What can I say about my beloved bunny, my partner in crime for over 11 ½ years? As I would tell him every day, he was the “bestest bunny in the whole land”. I’d also tell him, “I don’t know what I did to deserve such a very nice rabbit” and “You are such a handsome bunny!” Of course he agreed with it all 🙂
Waffles came home with me when he was only 8 weeks old back in 2013, and he was with me through thick and thin, and through 3 moves and 4 houses. He was my partner, my friend, an anchor of consistency during turbulent times. He was stubborn, opinionated, bossy and demanding, and I loved him for every little bit of his strong personality. He was not just “a” bunny but he was “the” bunny! I called him the “VIB” (Very Important Bunny). He was also loving (he loved being petted) and affectionate, often grooming me with rabbit kisses as I lay on the floor. We were tight buddies.
Mr. Waffles (such an important bunny needs to be called “Mr.”!) survived two partners, Sparkplug and Strudel. He is survived by his last partner, Willow, who is now, as I am, deeply mourning his loss. He lived a long and happy life, although I wish he could have stayed forever. Waffles passed away quickly from what we believe was a pulmonary embolism caused by stress from hospitalization for stasis. But he was able to die at home with his beloved Willow, and get extra special treats and pets before he gave me one last nuzzle and was gone.
I miss him so badly. I loved him so much.
